The Geoprobe® grout system is used to properly abandon small diameter monitoring wells. Using the appropriate ASTM bentonite slurries, the wells are pressure grouted from the bottom up. Shallow monitoring wells are filled with coarse granular bentonite from the top down. The upper 4 ft. of the casing is cut off; the protective cover pipe is removed, then the abandonment is finished at ground surface with a material similar to the surrounding surface. All wells are abandoned in accordance with state and local codes.

Monitoring Well Abandonment

Recovery Well Abandonment
Submersible pumps, conduit, and electrical equipment are removed prior to filling the well with the appropriate abandonment material. Then the abandonment is finished at ground surface with a material similar to the surrounding surface. Probe Technologies, Inc. has abandoned recovery wells from 4 inch to 18 inch in diameter and depths of over 200 ft.

Remediation System Abandonment
Remediation systems need to be dismantled to fulfill the abandonment requirements at certain sites. Probe Technologies, Inc. can provide these services. Probe Technologies, Inc. can remove and salvage remediation equipment to be used at another environmental site or the equipment can be recycled and disposed of properly. We can also demolish remediation structures and finish the site to match the surrounding area.
